A Body-Based Approach to Self-Investigation

Welcome to Senses Wide Open.

When we come to a point of rest in our own being,
we encounter a world where all things are at rest,
and then a tree becomes a mystery,
a cloud becomes a revelation,
and each person we meet
a cosmos whose riches we can only glimpse.
                                                    - Dag Hammarskjold

Here you will find an introduction to the practices that have informed my own process of self-awareness and discovery. These tools have been my trusty guides for many years, and it is my great pleasure to share them.

You will find on this site information about the somatic approach - the art and practice of living fully in the body. You will also find an introduction to the Enneagram, a personality system that describes nine different character types or world views: the ways that people and groups think, act, feel, and most especially, relate to one another. Both provide invaluable wisdom and both deserve serious study and practice.

I often combine Somatics with the Enneagram in my work as a counselor in private practice, a consultant, lecturer and workshop leader. My intention is to assist in the development of conscious awareness practices. It is my experience that these practices help individuals to see, hear, sense, feel and think with more empathy, objectivity and clarity. In this way we learn to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of our personal bias and thereby free ourselves to become more centered, honest, joyful and receptive human beings.

Enjoy this site and please feel free to contact me with questions or to make an appointment.

May you come to your senses,
keep them wide open,
and join in the work of re-infusing our world
with love, integrity and well being.

She who would allow her heart to be broken over and over again,
and still love.
